If you’re hunting for modern Pokémon cards that could actually pay off — financially or emotionally — you’re not alone. While vintage hits are locked behind $500+ boxes, some modern sets still hold ultra-rare pulls that rival the legends.
Let’s Get to the Point — What’s Still Out There?
Here are some of the rarest (and most valuable) Pokémon cards you can still pull from sealed modern booster packs today:
- Charizard ex (Special Illustration Rare) – Found in Obsidian Flames. Worth $70–$150 raw and up to $500+ graded.
- Gardevoir ex (Alt Art) – From Scarlet & Violet: Base Set. Shockingly low pull rate, and one of the most beautiful cards printed this generation.
- Mew ex (Illustration Rare) – Found in 151. Pull rate is painful, but this card holds strong value and nostalgia appeal.
- Shiny Charizard ex – From Paldean Fates. Pulling a shiny Zard never goes out of style.
Where Can You Still Hit These?
Here are four sealed products (all under ~$50) where the big pulls are still in circulation — no $800 vintage box required:
- Pokemon TCG Value Pack (3 Random Booster Packs) – Random mix, solid for variety and holo chances.
- Scarlet & Violet – Surging Sparks Booster Bundle – Features cards like Iron Crown, Tera-types, and gold rares.
- Pokemon 151 Booster Bundle – Still loaded with hits, including the full Kanto lineup and illustration rares.
- Paldean Fates Booster Bundle – Hunt shiny vault Pokémon and special gold or alt arts.
How Rare Are We Talking?
Some of these hit rates are 1 in 400 packs or worse. But for $15–$25, pulling a $150+ card is still possible — and way more fun than buying it raw.
What About Vintage?
If you’re after shadowless, vintage holos, or Japanese promos — those aren’t in packs anymore. But they will be soon at CardSZN’s Pokémon Singles section. We’re building out a collection of authentic vintage cards, including holos, Japanese exclusives, and iconic base set legends.
In the meantime, check vintage Pokémon cards on eBay » — just be sure to verify seller feedback and card condition before buying.
Final Tip: Don’t Rip Aimlessly
Target your hits. Know the set. Buy sealed product that gives you a real shot — and when you do pull something crazy, protect it and sell smart.
